Our Story
UnderCover was born in 1996 when founders Ron and Jennie Barker saw a gap in the truck accessories market. As owners of a small body shop in southwest Missouri, they understood what truck owners needed: a bed cover that was rigid enough to protect valuable cargo, lightweight enough to handle easily, and tough enough to survive years of daily use. After months of engineering and prototyping, we unveiled the UnderCover Elite — the first one-piece rigid truck bed cover made from ABS composite material.
That original Elite was a game-changer. It weighed nearly half as much as the fiberglass covers on the market, yet it delivered strength and durability that surprised even the most skeptical truck owners. The response was immediate — dealers across the country wanted to carry it, and truck owners who installed one told everyone they knew. From that single-product launch, we grew into the tonneau cover leader we are today.
Over the past three decades, we’ve expanded our lineup from one cover to an entire family of hard folding and one-piece tonneau covers. We developed the Flex, Ultra Flex, and ArmorFlex hard folding series for truck owners who need multi-position access to their bed. We refined the SE and Classic one-piece covers for those who want a clean, low-profile look at an accessible price. And we created the Elite LX, LUX, and Ridgelander for truck owners who demand premium features and factory color-matched finishes.
What We Build
Every UnderCover tonneau cover is designed and manufactured in our 125,000-square-foot production facility in Rogersville, Missouri. We control every step of the process — from computer-aided design and precision thermoforming to factory painting and final quality inspection. This vertical integration gives us tighter tolerances, faster innovation cycles, and complete control over the quality of every cover that leaves our facility.
Our hard folding covers are built with aircraft-grade aluminum panels bonded to our proprietary X-Effect reinforced frame system. Our one-piece covers are thermoformed from high-impact ABS composite — a material we chose because it resists dents, UV fading, and chemical damage far better than fiberglass or traditional plastics. We pair every cover with stainless steel hardware, industrial-grade rubber seals, and a no-drill clamp mounting system that installs in minutes.
We also maintain a comprehensive catalog of replacement parts and accessories — gas struts, mounting brackets, LED light kits, replacement keys, and lock cylinders — so every UnderCover tonneau cover can be serviced and maintained for years of continued use.

We design every cover using 3D scanning data from actual truck beds, ensuring perfect fit across hundreds of make, model, and bed-size combinations. Our tolerances are measured in millimeters — not inches.

Our entire manufacturing operation runs out of Rogersville, Missouri. From raw materials to boxed product, every UnderCover tonneau cover is built by American workers in an American facility.
